Fresh Rangers injury scare as club now forced into striker decision despite recent return
Zak Lovelace of Rangers is facing a new injury concern after being substituted out of a B Team match eighteen minutes in.
After suffering a horrific hamstring injury against St Mirren in October of last year,
the 18-year-old attacker has been working his way back to full health.
Under temporary manager Steven Davis, the gifted England youth international was given a chance in the final 3-0 victory.
However, there are now significant worries. A new setback in Zak Lovelace’s injury recuperation
has compounded the Ibrox club’s mounting problems.
Fresh Zak Lovelace injury scare
The Belgian squad Royal Antwerp was the opponent for the Rangers B team on the road.
As he continued to recover from an injury he suffered about five months ago, Zak Lovelace started the game.
But the Rangers striker was eventually replaced after 18 minutes of the game,
having initially gone down to receive treatment.
The Rangers B Team would go on to lose the match 3-2, despite going 2-0 ahead through goals from
Joshua Gentles and Findlay Curtis.
Rangers squad woes deepen
Even while there’s no reason to think that Zak Lovelace’s replacement is merely a preventative measure against injuries, the
circumstance is still enough to make Ibrox nervous.
Prior to the Europa League match against Benfica, Philippe Clement bemoaned the eight severe injuries that had ravaged the Gers frontline recently.
In January, Zak Lovelace was mentioned by the Belgian manager as a possible addition to the team,
as the Gers were under pressure to strengthen their forward line.
Supporters will be praying for Zak Lovelace as the gifted young striker recovers from this problematic injury.
One of the most highly regarded players in the team’s Academy,
the former Millwall striker could play this season provided he can demonstrate his fitness.
