Liel Abada Completes Medical Ahead of Celtic Exit
Liel Abada is on the cusp of sealing a move to Charlotte FC from Celtic, with his medical now completed.
It is anticipated that this transfer will be completed in the next 24 hours,
with Abada becoming a young Designated Player for Major League Soccer.
The 22-year-old is expected to bring in £10 million for Celtic.
After Celtic’s away game against Hibs on February 7,
Abada made his final appearance in a matchday squad.
Although he continued to practice with the team,
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers stated that Abada wasn’t in the right frame of mind to play for the club.
The head coach of Charlotte FC and former manager of Aston Villa, Dean Smith, would surely consider Abada to be an important addition to his team.
The departure of Abada is hardly shocking to anyone.
Due to pressure from his home country rather than Celtic supporters,
he has brought in a respectable amount of money for the team for a player who had no desire in playing for Celtic.
This season, the young player has seen relatively little playing time in Scotland.
Despite a brief string of starts this year, he ended up being disregarded in the final few games, finishing with 429 minutes in nine appearances.
In 2022, Celtic paid €4.35 million to acquire Bernabei from Lanus.
He is under contract with the Hoops till 2027, and Transfermarkt presently values him at just €2 million.
It appears that Brendan Rodgers has new plans for him after Celtic,
since he was clearly overlooked for the starting eleven.
