According to a story published this week, Celtic may spend heavily this summer in order to bring a former fan favorite back to Glasgow.
Celtic struggled since the winter break.

It is no secret that Brendan Rodgers’ squad is struggling to meet their normal high standards.

The Hoops squandered a good opportunity to regain the Scottish Premiership lead over the weekend when league leaders Rangers suffered a 2-0 setback to Hearts.

It means that with four games remaining before the break, they are two points behind their city rivals, and the title could be determined in the last OId Firm Derby of the season.

Such a circumstance puts Rodgers under additional scrutiny, especially given his contrast with Ange Postecoglou’s time at the club earlier.

With suspicions that the board let the former Liverpool manager down on the transfer front,

all signs point to a disgruntled camp at Celtic.

That could change before the season ends, but considering Celtic’s customary dominance in the Scottish Premiership,

even a league victory may feel inadequate.

Summer changes as Hoops eyes massive relocation.

With only four games remaining in the first phase in Scotland, attention has already moved to the summer transfer window,

which may be a busy one at Celtic Park both within and outside.

According to teamtalk, Celtic are one of several clubs interested in Scottish fullback Kieran Tierney,

who has fallen out of favour at Arsenal and is expected to be moved this summer.

It is said that’several big teams are preparing to come out with bids for him’,

with the Scottish champions eager to re-sign their former star, who was sold to Arsenal for £25 million in 2019.

Currently on loan at Real Sociedad, the Spanish club wants to keep him for another loan, but Arsenal prefers to sell.

It is stated that they ‘will examine proposals’ around the £26 million figure, but with only two years remaining on his contract,

such a price is unlikely to be forthcoming, and they may have to settle for less than they paid for him five years ago.

However, any amount even close to that would be a record for Celtic,

as their current largest import is still Odsonne Edouard, whom they paid £9 million for in 2018.

With no player commanding a sum from the Scottish side anything near what Tierney’s signing would supposedly require,

any deal seems very unlikely to happen on a permanent basis.

Tierney’s former Arsenal manager Unai Emery at Aston Villa, as well as a number of Italian clubs,

are rumored to be interested in signing him, although he would welcome a return north of the border if the opportunity arises.
