After learning of a rumor circulating around the changing room at Celtic Park, Alistair Johnston responded.

Notwithstanding Sunday’s loss to Hearts, the Canadian right-back is back to his best, and Johnston acted swiftly to quell rumors that the team’s locker room is “disjointed” after learning of them.

Johnston said [The Herald], “Interesting. I haven’t heard the disjointed part. The locker room is really together again. “We have got great leaders. We have got guys like Cal [Callum McGregor] and Joe [Hart] and James [Forrest] who have played in difficult run-ins and lifted all kinds of trophies. “There are quite a few guys in that locker room who won it last year and who understand what it takes to win. So I think there is that confidence and that self-belief there for sure.

“With it being Joe’s last season we want to send him off right. So there are things like that as well. The confidence is definitely there, the togetherness is there. I haven’t really noticed any difference from last year when I came in to this year.”

I suppose it’s easy for these rumours to spread especially when Celtic’s form has been yoyo-ing this season. But after what we have seen from this team recently, their battling qualities to come from behind and beat Motherwell and then the outstanding attacking display against Dundee, does that look like a team that is in turmoil or disjointed? Not for me. For me these rumours just confirm Brendan Rodgers‘ assertion that there is a narrative being written about this Celtic team and, hopefully, winning the remaining nine games of the season will help ram those rumours right in the bin by the end of the season.
