Celtic accept to sign £6m Premier League attacker Rodgers “very pleased”

Reports from South America state that Celtic fullback Alexandro Bernabei is in route to Brazil.

According to German Garcia Grova and Cesar Luis Merlo,

two journalists, the 23-year-old is set to sign with Internacional.

This transfer has caught everyone off guard, therefore not many specifics are available at this time.

The first to write about it was Merlo, who claimed to have heard from “sources in Scotland” that the agreement was finalized.

We’ll see about that. A minute later, Grova announced that Bernabei had been loaned from Celtic to Inter.

This season, the young player has seen relatively little playing time in Scotland.

Despite a brief string of starts this year, he ended up being disregarded in the final few games, finishing with 429 minutes in nine appearances.

In 2022, Celtic paid €4.35 million to acquire Bernabei from Lanus.

He is under contract with the Hoops till 2027, and Transfermarkt presently values him at just €2 million.

It appears that Brendan Rodgers has new plans for him after Celtic, since he was clearly overlooked for the starting eleven.

Under Brendan Rodgers’ direction, Greg Taylor has continued to be the go-to option at left back,

limiting Bernabei to just nine games this season—just four of which were starts—due to the Scottish full-back’s injury.

Bernabei was not able to find a new club in the January transfer window.

The most recent information from South America, however, is that a season-long loan arrangement with SC Internacional is almost finalized,

providing Bernabei with a chance to return to his own continent and play more regularly.

This possible transfer coincides with the approaching departure of Liel Abada,

a fellow Celtic player, who is set to finalize his move to MLS team Charlotte FC following the completion of his medical test.

It looks like Abada’s departure will soon be confirmed officially.
