Browns Proposed Trade Fleeces Cowboys for $39 Million WR
To bolster their wide receiver group, the Cleveland Browns may make another call to the Dallas Cowboys, this time for Brandin Cooks.
In 2022, the Browns acquired Amari Cooper from the Cowboys in exchange for a fifth-round pick and two sixth-round picks. Dallas wanted to move Cooper in order to free up some salary cap space. Cleveland was excited to play him.
The Browns have reaped the rewards, as Cooper has produced consecutive seasons with 1,000 yards or more. After catching 72 passes for a career-high 1,250 yards and 5 touchdowns, he was selected for the Pro Bowl the previous season.
Given their limited contract space, the Cowboys may be considering a similar move with Cooks this offseason. The Browns should have plenty of room to accommodate Cooks even as they work through their own cap difficulties.
The Browns are a top trade target for Cooks, according to Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report. In exchange for Cooks, the Browns would give the Cowboys their fifth-round pick (155th overall).
Knox stated that Dallas should give serious consideration to making another receiver trade with Cleveland, and not just because the two had previously conducted business. Given his past playing experience with Deshaun Watson and his continued field-stretching speed, Cooks would seem to be a sensible target for the Browns. Together, the two played for the Houston Texans during the 2020 campaign. That season, Cooks amassed 1,150 yards and six touchdowns, while Watson was selected to his final Pro Bowl.
