Rangers fans as Motherwell star defends horror tackle

Following a careless first-half challenge by Dan Casey, who went on to score the game’s winning goal, the young Northern Irishman

had to leave Ibrox on crutches.

Manager Philippe Clement became enraged after the game, claiming that Dan Casey had “kicked” Ross McCausland off the field.

Dermot Gallagher, a former Premier League referee, has since voiced his shock that a red card wasn’t given, although Andy Halliday

disagrees.

With reference to Dujon Sterling’s dubious red card against Aberdeen, the midfield player for Motherwell jumped to his friend’s

defense.

Andy Halliday’s remarks, in which he claimed that the tackle only deserved a yellow card, may win him favor with Dan Casey but they

will undoubtedly alienate Rangers fans.

Ibrox supporters are incensed about the challenge, which was at best wildly ill-advised.

Is the force used excessive? Yes, it is, but although I know referees use it as a gauge, I don’t like to use it myself. A yellow card was

ultimately the wise course of action.
