Rangers could be without Colombian £3.8m winger Star for up to three months due a muscle injury

The man behind Four Lads Had a Dream claims that Oscar Cortes, a Colombian winger, may be out of the Rangers lineup for up to three months owing to a muscle issue.

Stevie Clifford, who is well-known to have strong ties to the team, revealed this during his remarks on the Rangers Review’s Morning Briefing on April 3.

Popular fan media outlet Four Lads Had a Dream is a leading voice in the Ibrox club’s media space and Stevie Clifford is a well

respected figure when it comes to all things Rangers.

The news will come as a bitter disappointment to Rangers, the support, and Oscar Cortes himself, who had started brightly at Ibrox.

Oscar Cortes facing three month injury?

Following Rangers’ sad 2-1 weekend loss to Motherwell, Stevie Clifford, a former Ibrox media partner, expressed his belief that the team’s terrible injury luck has now caught up with them.

Rangers are missing a lot of important players, especially in the midfield and front lines, and Cortes may be out for up to 12 weeks.

“You get that blow with the (Oscar) Cortes news just before (the game with Motherwell),” said Clifford.

“I think at the moment in world football we’re the only football club that can have a guy that kind of walks off holding his hamstring

signalling he’s ok to find out that he’s potentially out for three months.

“I think our run of luck with injuries just finally caught up with us because there wasn’t a spark on Saturday.”

Rangers winger blow sums up Ibrox luck

Although he did characterize the injury as “severe” prior to the Kilmarnock game, Rangers manager Philippe Clement has previously refrained from providing a timeframe for it.

Though he did say he would provide supporters with more information after speaking with a specialist and parent club RC Lens, the prognosis is undoubtedly dire.

Oscar Cortes is just 20 years old, so we’re confident he’ll recover from the injury in due course, but this setback will severely hamper his goals and aspirations for this season.

Alongside fellow January additions Mohamed Diomande and Fabio Silva, the Colombian appeared to be a direct and gifted option

from the wing. He had also started to settle in rather well.

Oscar Cortes was signed on a loan-to-buy agreement from French Ligue 1 team RC Lens. The club reportedly paid £3.8 million to

secure the young player from FC Millonarios in the summer. However, the attacker’s injury raises doubts about any potential future transfer.

The winger might have played his final game for Rangers if the option is not exercised or if a new loan agreement is not reached due to

the deadlines involved, which would take him until late May.

Oscar Cortes has played in seven games with the Rangers, contributing two assists and one goal.
