Hoops Review: Celtic accept bid in the region of £10-15M to sale talented defender immediately announcing Liel Abada’s departure

According to Football Insider, Celtic defender Yuki Kobayashi might become the club’s second senior player to consent to an out-of-window transfer.

As exclusively revealed by Football Insider on Sunday afternoon, Liel Abada is set to join MLS club Charlotte FC after Celtic agreed to a fee of £8 million plus add-ons worth up to £10 million.

Kobayashi, 23, is also considering a move after manager Brendan Rodgers told him he was free to choose a new club.

According to Football Insider (19 February), the 23-year-old’s transfer to Finnish club HJK Helsinki fell through in the middle of last month after the Hoops gave the go-ahead.

Helsinki was ready to recruit Kobayashi, and he even flew to the club for talks, but the deal fell through late on.

Kobayashi is considered to be out of the manager’s plans at Parkhead after failing to make an impression since joining in January of last year.

The centre-back is yet to appear for Celtic this season and has only made the matchday squad once, in September’s 1-0 victory over Rangers.

He joined the Glasgow giants from Japanese club Vissel Kobe on a five-and-a-half-year contract, although he has only made seven appearances since then.

He played sparingly last season under former coach Ange Postecoglou, making only six starts across all competitions.
