Chiefs Make Massive Free Agency Decision on L’Jarius Sneed

Chiefs Make Massive Free Agency Decision on L’Jarius Sneed

The Chiefs’ contract negotiations with L’Jarius Sneed have been complex over the last few days, but the organization

is expected to place the franchise tag on the talented cornerback on Monday.

It was believed that Kansas City would place the tag on Sneed, allowing for a potential trade to regain draft pick

compensation rather than losing him in free agency next season.

While Brett Veach negotiates with Chris Jones and other important free agents, the Chiefs appear to have taken at

least one major decision that provides some clarity to the continuing process.

Chiefs Reportedly Plan to Franchise Tag L’Jarius Sneed

The move has not yet been made official, but Dianna Russini of The Athletic writes that Kansas City will apply the

franchise tag to Sneed while negotiating an extension with Chris Jones.

It appears that Sneed will be dealt, and we have seen some stories on prospective trade packages, though an

unreported knee injury could stall negotiations slightly.

Assuming the injury is not too serious, Sneed should have a solid market as one of the greatest cornerbacks in the

NFL, with a flexible style that has helped Steve Spagnuolo’s defense reach new heights in recent years.

While it is still possible that the Chiefs and Sneed will agree on a contract extension if a trade does not happen, it

appears that Kansas City will attempt to win a third consecutive Super Bowl without Sneed’s services.

We will keep you updated as the story progresses. Now that the combine is gone, Chiefs Kingdom should have a busy

week ahead.
