Breaking News: Barisic is set to exit rangers

If Borna Barisic wants to continue at Rangers and win a new contract, his performance at Rugby Park needs to
improve dramatically.

A 2/10 on the player ratings was generous, as Ridvan Yilmaz came on at halftime to save the day, with Gers manager

Philippe Clement looking increasingly likely to let the Croatian leave Ibrox at the end of the season.

The 31-year-old has been a fantastic purchase for Rangers over the last six seasons, but it is time to move Borna

Barisic on and for the club to take a new route, with him playing elsewhere next season.

Borna Barisic is now facing the Rangers’ summer exodus.

According to recent rumors, the veteran left-back will have no shortage of offers.

Dinamo Zagreb has been linked in the last two windows, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Barisic returns home to

complete some unfinished business.

He was a teenage member of the Croatian champions, and they could be building on their success in what is shaping

up to be a competitive Supersport HNL title campaign.

However, what we’ve seen from Ridvan Yilmaz in recent months foreshadows the future.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Michael Beale, and Philippe Clement all appeared to prefer Barisic over Ridvan at first,

but now that he is fit and has played a few games, there can only be one winner.

Barisic was never the fastest, but in a one-on-one match with Killie, he appeared lethargic and uncomfortable.

An allegation that cannot be leveled against the small Turk.

As DataMB study of the two Rangers left-backs reveals, there are additional reasons why Borna Barisic is often

benched.

You’d expect the 6’1″ tall Barisic to be better in the air, but Ridvan is the obvious winner when it comes to beating

players and moving the ball up the field.

Previously, all Barisic had to say about Ridvan was that he was a superior ball crosser; but, we’ve witnessed in recent

weeks how much the younger of the two has progressed, to the point where he was our most threatening player in

the loss to Motherwell.

When your one trick is no longer enough to keep you on the squad, there is only one possible consequence.

With reports that Jefte will join Rangers in the summer, Borna Barisic deserves to be appreciated for his service, but

please leave the pass code or key to his locker on the way out of Auchenhowie.
