Report: Following USC’s March 20 Pro Day, Caleb Williams will visit the Bears.
According to Albert Breer of SI.com, the Bears intend to bring quarterback Caleb Williams to Chicago for a visit following USC’s March 20 Pro Day. Originally scheduled to visit Chicago on Tuesday,
Breer notes that Williams chose to visit later.
Williams is expected to be the first overall pick in the draft and has reportedly scheduled a visit with the team that owns that selection.
Williams stated he would perform medical evaluations during team visits,
but he did not perform any during the Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
The Bears would have received that medical information prior to the opening of
the new league year on March 13 if Williams had been signed this week. They will be able to trade at that point.
If the team decides to spend the first choice on a quarterback,
Justin Fields and general manager Ryan Poles stated at the Combine that
they would prefer to make that decision as quickly as possible.
There should be some indication of the Bears’ future course soon,
however it is unclear if their plan to trade Fields to another club will be affected by their inability to meet with Williams at their facility.
