Rangers are hopeful of agreeing on a new contract with John Lundstram in the coming weeks, according to Football Insider sources.

The midfield monarch, 30, has already begun preliminary negotiations with the Glasgow giants about extending his current contract, which ends at the end of May.

Rangers do not want to lose Lundstram, who has been superb since Philippe Clement took over in October and is regarded as key to the manager’s long-term ambitions.

Ibrox officials understand they will have to offer lucrative terms to the former Sheffield United player,

who is a top earner at the club after coming on a free transfer in the summer of 2021.

Clubs south of the border are also interested in the center midfielder, including one in the Premier League.

Lundstram’very willing’ to renew with Rangers as talks advance

Nonetheless, negotiations for a new contract are well underway, and Rangers are sure an agreement will be achieved in the coming weeks.

According to a reliable source, Lundstram is “very keen” to extend his stay at Ibrox following a successful 2023-24 season.

This season, the Englishman has appeared in 41 games in all competitions, with 26 starts in the Scottish Premiership.

He has played the full 90 minutes in each of Rangers’ previous ten league games as the exciting title race with Celtic heats up.

Lundstram has played 141 appearances since joining Rangers and was a major player of the team that reached the Europa League final in 2022.

The midfielder is only one of several Gers players likely to leave in May, including Borna Barisic, Ryan Jack, Kemar Roofe, Leon Balogun, and Jon McLaughlin.
