Finally, Celtic has released a statement regarding the Tynecastle farce.

In an indication that they will not be taking the controversial judgment lying down, Celtic has filed an appeal against the red card given to Hyunjun Yang during their most recent match at Tynecastle against Hearts. The club has also gone so far as to send a formal letter to the Scottish FA (SFA) expressing their serious concerns regarding the VAR decisions made during that game.

“Celtic Football Club can confirm that it will be appealing the red card issued to Hyunjun Yang during Sunday’s match against Hearts at Tynecastle,” the club’s statement stated. In addition, we have written to the SFA to express our grave concerns about the judgments taken during the game and the usage of VAR.

Celtic has been actively interacting with football authorities to push for improved officiating standards and the introduction of video assistant refereeing (VAR) in Scotland. Their proactive approach goes beyond a single match. “As we have previously stated, Celtic has endeavored to collaborate with the football governing bodies to enhance the quality of officiating and video assistant usage in Scotland, a move that is evidently beneficial to all involved in the sport,” the team said.

Brendan Rodgers was deeply unhappy with how the game unfolded and with John Beaton’s absurd interjections in the match which helped Celtic on their way to a defeats

The SFA will likely close ranks now and due to the high profile nature of Celtic’s grievance, I’d be astonished if they overturn the red card.
