Deal close: Celtic star who signed new contract this season now on verge of leaving – Sky Sports

A deal is believed to be close.

An “ambitious” Celtic player who only signed a new contract this season is about to leave the club,

according to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph.

Celtic Transfer News
The Hoops could have another busy summer ahead of them,

with new additions likely as they attempt to rebuild after a turbulent period under Brendan Rodgers,

but current players could also go when their contracts expire.abada-premiership-celtic-injury-rodgers-yang

Scott Bain’s contract expires at the end of the season and is unlikely to be extended,

while loan star Adam Idah’s long-term future remains uncertain, and Joe Hart plans to retire.

Celtic are reportedly interested in making Idah’s temporary deal permanent this summer,

with the 23-year-old netting five goals in six outings since joining the club in the January transfer window.

The Hoops have also been linked with a summer move for Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher,

who has been in excellent form recently as he fills in for the injured Alisson.

He may try to transfer elsewhere in the coming months, however,

since he is likely to feel the need to be a regular starter at this juncture in his career,

which he will not be able to do at Anfield with probably the world’s finest goalkeeper ahead of him.

Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir has emerged as an option to Kelleher,

should the Liverpool player go, and the 27-year-old has started 26 Turkish Super Lig games this season,

as well as three for Turkey in Euro 2024 qualifying.

Celtic star poised for swift exit Aside from potential incomings,

Sky Sports reporters Joseph and Lyall Thomas allege that Liel Abada is on the verge of leaving Celtic and joining MLS club Charlotte FC.

Abada has been an impressive servant for Celtic, scoring 29 goals and providing 22 assists in 112 games while winning two Scottish Premiership titles –

Ange Postecoglou regarded him as a “ambitious player” during his tenure as manager.
