CeeDee Lamb might sign a deal close to Justin Jefferson’s record-breaking area.
There is a lot of work ahead of the Dallas Cowboys following yet another poor season finale. Dan Quinn’s promotion to head coach of Washington has resulted in the hiring of a new defensive coordinator, but Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb might also require new deals.
The Cowboys are largely anticipated to negotiate a new contract with Prescott this offseason as he approaches the final year of his current one. But what about their best pass-catcher? Similar to Prescott, Lamb is nearing the end of his contract, and according to an insider, the Cowboys receiver has a chance to sign one of the largest deals in the league.
With his new deal, CeeDee Lamb will rank among the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL.
The negotiations for CeeDee Lamb’s contract extension are timely, at least in his opinion. Not necessarily for the Dallas Cowboys, who have already over their 2024 expenditure cap.
In terms of receptions (135), receiving yards (1,749), and touchdowns (12), Lamb set new season highs. With 135 catches, he led the NFL. Lamb, who is still only 24 years old, will soon sign his first contract extension after being selected with the 17th overall choice in the 2020 NFL Draft.
The Cowboys and Lamb are reportedly in talks on an extension, according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano. Lamb even hinted that he could be able to secure a deal that nearly matches the record-breaking salary that receivers are slated to earn once Justin Jefferson signs.
According to Spotrac, Lamb’s annual contract worth is approximately $28.8 million. Even with a four-year contract signed by one of the best receivers in the game, it would still fall short of Jefferson’s salary of $115 million.
