Breaking News: Everton consider signing of a Player, after first perfect impression
Omari Benjamin, a bright talent from Arsenal, is on trial at Everton.
Coaches at Finch Farm are evaluating the forward, a Welsh youth international who was hailed as a rising star as he
advanced through the Gunners’ academy. On Saturday, the 18-year-old had his first opportunity to play in a
competitive setting as he started for the Under-21s against Tottenham Hotspur in Premier League 2.
Benjamin scored in Paul Tait’s team’s 2-1 triumph.
Benjamin, who has played for Arsenal in the U18 Premier League and has three goals and an assist
from seven games this season, is a product of the club’s Hale End program. He has played
for the club’s U21 team and scored in Arsenal’s FA Youth Cup final loss to West Ham United the previous year.
Tait’s team is improving as the second half of the season progresses, as seen by Benjamin’s game-winning goal in the
weekend’s comeback triumph against Spurs. Mackenzie Hunt and Jenson Metcalfe were able to resume their youth
careers with the injury recoveries of Andre Gomes and Lewis Dobbin. Tyler Onyango, who scored Everton’s
equalizer, and Lewis Warrington both made full recoveries from long-term problems. Like Warrington, Reece Welch
has returned from a loan spell to Merseyside. Benjamin’s arrival gave the Blues hope after Francis Okoronkwo, their
talented attacker, suffered a hamstring injury.
