Rangers: Celtic on brink of ‘civil war’ amid Gers development at Ibrox
Celtic are on the brink of a “civil war” after Rangers have found themselves clawing their way back into the SPFL title race this season, according to Gary Keown.
The journalist stated that there is “huge” potential for fireworks now that the Green Brigade is back inside Parkhead,
following the Hoops’ recent struggles on the field. This was written on page 83 of the Scottish Mail on Sunday’s print edition on December 24.
With a win over Motherwell on Sunday, the Gers can close the difference to just two points once more,
giving them another chance to seize the lead and take command of the title fight.
Due to Celtic’s recent performance and the fans’ strained relationship with the club’s board,
tensions at Celtic are undoubtedly rising.
Prior to their league-bottom Livingston team’s 2-0 victory on Saturday,
December 23, the Hoops had dropped their previous two SPFL games and were eliminated from Europe for the entire season.
Rangers, meanwhile, are gaining ground as they have won 15 straight games under Philippe Clement
and have already secured a trophy after defeating Aberdeen in the Viaplay Cup final on December 17.With a lot of confidence,
the Gers will be looking to win three more points against Motherwell,
who are now ranked second in the league.
The Light Blues have a big game against Celtic at Parkhead on December 30.
More than just bragging rights are at issue,
so they will be anxious to maintain their strong run.
