Neal Maupay, an Everton loanee, has a permanent transfer decision shared by Thomas Frank.
According to Thomas Frank, Brentford is not in a rush to decide whether to permanently move Neal Maupay from Everton.
Having made just 34 appearances for the Toffees in the 2022–2023 season, the Frenchman scored just twice before joining the Bees on loan from Goodison Park last summer.
At the Gtech Community Stadium, Maupay has found newfound success. He has scored eight goals in 23 games while partnering with Ivan Toney in a potent duo.
“Like a lot of other transfer decisions, that will be taken at the end of the season because we are not in a hurry,” Frank stated in an interview with Evening Standard on Friday, March 1.
A return to Brentford on loan seemed to be the best course of action for the 27-year-old after he went 13 months without scoring at Goodison Park. In November 2023, Brentford defeated West Ham United 3-2.
In the current season, Maupay has been a tremendous asset to the Bees, tallying eight goals and four assists in all competitions thus far.
Since Toney is probably moving on, it would make sense for Brentford to finalize Maupay’s permanent transfer at the end of the current season. However, Sean Dyche might possibly use him at Goodison Park.
After scoring twice in the previous season, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is in a rut as he only has three Premier League goals this season. Beto is also no better, with just three goals in 28 games.
