Between now and April 25th, a lot can and will occur, but since the Giants own the sixth overall pick, it seems unlikely that there will be many significant shifts at the top of this year’s draft.

This week, Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network stopped by the Giants Huddle podcast in Indianapolis to talk about a range of subjects, including the players at the top of his draft board.

The draft expert described the top of the draft as “really top heavy.” To put it another way, I think the group is fantastic and it probably includes 10 to 13 people. We do have some drop-off, in my opinion (after that). Much of that, in my opinion, has to do with a larger conversation about NIL and the dearth of juniors who entered the draft, which will become evident in rounds four through seven. However, three of my receivers rank among the top five players in this draft, particularly at the top. You begin there; what a remarkable group.”

Three players, Marvin Harrison Jr. of Ohio State, Malik Nabers of LSU, and Rome Odunze of Washington, are near the top of almost every draft board after being selected by the Associated Press to the first team of All-America.

It is improbable that Harrison, who is regarded as the best wide receiver in this year’s draft class, will be selected by the Giants with pick No. 6. On the other hand, general manager Joe Schoen might consider Odunze and Nabers.

Nabers just finished a season in which he led the country in 10+ yard plays, 20+ yard plays, and 30+ yard plays while catching 89 receptions for 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns. Odunze, meanwhile, caught 92 passes for 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns, and he ended up with 100 yards or more in 10 out of 15 contests.

The two standouts from LSU and Washington may be the deciding factor for Schoen when the Giants finally get to use their time. Jeremiah is aware of which prospect he would choose if that were the case.

Jeremiah said to the Giants Huddle podcast, “So the way I have it, I have Marvin, and I gave Odunze the same grade I gave Marvin.” “I love Odunze because I’m an Odunze guy. Then, I have Nabers and (Georgia tight end Brock) Bowers graded similarly below that. Well, it’s just a matter of taste. Whatever you’re searching for, it’s it. Nabers is going to be this incredibly dynamic and explosive run after the catch. Next, you obtain the contested catches and the catch radius using Odunze. By the way, I think his running pace will wow others as well. He is able to roll. He is one of those people who has such awareness and control over his body that he will be

After passing the first round of quarterbacks, you’ll find a group of prospects that includes Michael Penix Jr. of Washington, Oregon’s Bo Nix, and Michigan’s J.J. McCarthy. Jeremiah thinks all three of those players have the potential to be successful NFL quarterbacks, but the draft expert says it will depend more on where they go than on their skill set.

“They’re going to be dependent on who’s around them and what’s around them, the situation that they have, for them to be successful,” Jeremiah added. “Obviously, every quarterback is to some extent, but it will depend on where you go. However, I believe that those players’ chances will transcend their physical capabilities because of how well they can play the game.”

Ultimately, Jeremiah stated on the Giants Huddle podcast that he thinks the top wide outs will ultimately determine who is selected at number six.

“I’m hopeful for the Giants that they get a chance to get one of those three stud receivers, and we’ll see where they go from there,” Jeremiah said.
