Hoops Updates : Uncertainty clouds Brendan Rodgers future at Celtics as Manager nowhere to found at Lennoxtown training base
Brendan Rodgers, Celtic’s manager, was absent from training, as was captain Callum McGregor, although the manager is anticipated to be there for his media obligations on Friday.
Sky Sports reporter Mark Benstead revealed that the Irishman was not there for the final practice before the crucial encounter with Hearts, with John Kennedy directing the first squad at their Lennoxtown training facility. The champions are relishing in the glow of their comeback victory against Motherwell before crushing Dundee 7-1.
Benstead told Sky Sports: “Interesting little side note to training.” Brendan Rodgers is not leading this morning’s session. So far, John Kennedy has been the man in charge. The Celtic boss has yet to make an appearance. We are due to talk to him at lunchtime, I imagine he will be on route. But, for the moment, John Kennedy is the man looking after this morning’s session.”
Skipper McGregor was replaced at halftime by Daniel Kelly, however he talked to the media after the game, and his removal against Dens Park appeared to be due to a well-deserved rest rather than an injury.
