Michael Penix Jr. provided the following account of his official interview with coach Sean Payton of the Broncos:

Penix remarked, “Man, that was an interesting meeting.” “It was distinct from the rest.

However, I felt OK. Both going into it and coming out of it gave me a sense of confidence. Being able to play for Coach Sean Payton

would be incredible. He’s an excellent coach.

What was different about it? It was straightforward: Michael Penix Jr.’s transgressions were the subject of Payton and the Broncos’

inquiry.

“But it’s beneficial because it’s challenging at the next level. Winning is difficult. That’s understandable, he said.

“In some ways, I think they were just observing how I handled those poor plays, to see whether I could accept responsibility, and that

kind of thing. And I will always act in such manner.
