Family relatives of Liam Stevenson are seeking for a minute’s applause at Ibrox during Rangers’ match against

Motherwell on Saturday as a show of respect for the enormous Gers fan.

A Glasgow family is distraught after a ‘loving’ teenager died unexpectedly.

Tributes have poured in for Drumchapel resident Liam Stevenson, who died on Tuesday, February 27.

Loved ones describe the 18-year-old as a ‘brilliant footballer’ with a ‘heart of pure gold’. Family members are now

seeking for a minute’s applause at Ibrox during Rangers’ match against Motherwell on Saturday,

March 2, as a show of respect for the devoted Gers supporter.

Petrice Massey, a heartbroken mother, says the loss of her son has torn her world apart.

She told the newspaper: “My only child has broke my heart into a million pieces and my life will never be the same.”

Paige Massey, Liam’s aunty, added: “He was a fantastic footballer who was popular with everyone.

“Anyone he met he didn’t pass without stopping, he had the biggest heart with the most beautiful smile and he will

be missed dearly by his mum, dad, Nana, papa, granny, grandad, aunties, uncles, cousins and all his friends.”

Paige, who was heartbroken, shared the sad news of her adolescent nephew’s death on Facebook.

She added, “Thank you for making me an aunty at the age of 11 and giving me the best memories and laughs for the

past 18 years.

“You were a boy with a large personality and a pure gold heart, and I’ll always remember all the silly pictures and

movies you loathed me taking. Aunty Paigey loved you throughout your life, and I shall love you till the end of mine.

“My heart is broken in ways I never thought imaginable. “My handsome nephew Liam, until we meet again.”

Many who knew Liam paid tribute to the 18-year-old. Glasgow youth squad, Sons of Struth Football Academy,

wrote a post on social media dedicated to their ‘one of a kind’

It read, “Liam played for one of our most successful teams till 2020.

Liam was an outstanding player who was chosen to attend a two-week training camp at Benfica just as we were

placed under lockdown.

Unfortunately, the trip did not take place, and we were all disappointed for him.
