Breaking News: Brazil and Rangers have an Agreement with €12 million Gers playmaker
Prior to joining Cruzeiro, Jose Cifuentes disclosed that he was being pursued by a few Russian teams during the January transfer window.
The Ecuadorian international was just brought to Ibrox in August of last year, but he was given a 12-month loan with
a buyout option to the Brazilian team.
With an undisclosed Russian club, Cifuentes could have remained in Europe,
but that was not feasible due to Russia’s ongoing conflict with Ukraine.
It was something that could not be completed due to the ongoing conflict,
as European teams are currently prohibited from accepting sponsorship from Russian teams.
“A Turkish club as well as a team from the English Championship expressed interest.” However, it would have only been a five-month
loan, which would have required them to move away from their families once more after having to adjust to life in Scotland.
I’m in Brazil because I had to choose what was best for them, which is why I made this decision.
It was a beautiful day when I made my Cruzeiro debut last week.
“I didn’t experience the sun for the six months I was with Rangers. It was always cold.
But my fitness is good and I think I will adapt here easily.
“I prefer to play as an attacking midfielder, but I adjust my positioning depending on the team I’m playing for.”
Jose Cifuentes a forgotten man at Rangers already
Even though Cifuentes left on loan at first, it seems reasonable to presume that his six months in Glasgow are up.
Sam Lammers and Cifuentes were the greatest busts in a summer that saw, at best, somewhat mediocre transfer activity.
When Cifuentes arrived from Los Angeles FC, there was a lot of expectation for him,
and the Gers received a lot of interest in signing him.
But he failed to establish his indispensable status, and Philippe Clement finally concluded he was surplus to requirements.
