Update:Pundit gives latest Rangers and Celtic title verdict.
On BBC Sport scene on Wednesday (28 February, 41:09), the analyst stated that the Gers had passed a “acid test”
after defeating Kilmarnock 2-1.
However, he noted that the Hoops’ “sticky performance” against Motherwell was “totally abolished” following their
7-1 victory against Dundee as the two Glasgow clubs compete for Scottish football’s biggest trophy this season.
“That was an acid test for them tonight against Kilmarnock, they’ve come through it,” McCann added.
“However, a sticky performance against Motherwell was completely eliminated after tonight.
“I think this game come April, the Old Firm game, will tell everybody a big story.”
Rangers and Celtic’s title duel will go down to the wire
So far, the title fight appears to be going down to the wire, with Rangers and Celtic separated by only a few points.
The Gers have been in excellent form over the last few months, with only one defeat since Philippe Clement took over
at Ibrox, and that came against their Old Firm opponents.
Despite criticism for some of their previous performances, the Hoops’ 7-1 victory over Dundee should boost their confidence.
However, the Gers remain at the top of the SPL table following a comeback victory over Kilmarnock thanks to goals from James Tavernier and Tom Lawrence.
It’s difficult to predict which way the title will go this season, but the Light Blues are now in control,
and they’ll be hoping that remains the case after the two sides meet in April at Ibrox.
