Philippe Clement hails James Tavernier as Instagram post draws £15m Premier League attention
James Tavernier has received a lot of praise from Rangers manager Philippe Clement after the Ibrox captain’s spectacular free-kick performance against Kilmarnock.
The Ibrox manager was speaking following Rangers’ 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park, which could have significant implications for the Scottish Premiership title contest.
However, things might not have turned out in Ayrshire if it weren’t for the heroics of James Tavernier, who in the second half bent a truly world-class free-kick equalizer past Kilmarnock goalie Will Dennis.
There were a number of significant moments in the game, but none could possibly top the magnificent long-range free kick. Following the game, Philippe Clement was questioned about James Tavernier.

During the press conference following the game, Belgian manager Clement commended Tavernier for accepting accountability for the Rangers squad.
The Rangers manager seizes the opportunity to compliment the Ibrox supporters as well, saying that the team’s captain’s demeanor perfectly captures the spirit of the crowd.
Clement stated, “He is there all the time.” He is there at all times. He puts in a lot of effort for the team because playing defense is just as important as scoring and stats.
And he never loses, he fights to the very end, and he gives it all. Both the team and the supporters are starting to adopt this mindset more and more.
“They were fantastic today as well; they were outstanding today. You could get discouraged because it’s hard to make chances when you’re behind in the first half, but they didn’t stop singing, being upbeat, or pushing.
“This connection that exists between the fans and the team is also major for me because they know the team will stop at nothing to win these three points.”
