Celtics Upset Rangers by clinching a major transfer target regarded “World-class”

According to a new transfer report this week, one prominent Celtic transfer target may be open to a move to Parkhead.

The Hoops have returned to winning ways in recent weeks after a downturn in Scottish Premiership play,

with a late win over Motherwell on the weekend followed by a 7-1 thrashing of Dundee on Wednesday evening.

Brendan Rodgers’ team is still behind rivals Rangers at the top of the table, with the title fight expected to go down to the wire.

Despite Rodgers’ emphasis on on-field matters, it appears that Celtic executives are already keeping an eye on the transfer market. Recent sources have stated that the Hoops may break their transfer record on one  signing this summer, with the funds seemingly ready.

Adam Idah, a loanee, is said to be interested in a permanent move to Celtic, while Charlton Athletic youngster Patrick Casey is also being considered.

However, the club’s first priority appears to be a new goalkeeper, with Liverpool’s Caoimhin Kelleher attracting significant interest. Celtic “would love” to recruit the Reds goalkeeper, but prior reports suggested it would be difficult to persuade him to move to Scotland.

According to a new HITC update, Kelleher may be enticed to join with Celtic because of ‘the chance of regular first-team play north of the border’. They believe Kelleher is high on Rodgers’ wishlist, and the manager appears to be a great fan, but a deal might cost up to £15 million.

With Joe Hart likely to retire at the end of the season, the club is looking for a new first-choice shot-stopper, and according to the source, they have also looked into Ugurcan Cakir of Trabzonspor.

Kelleher has been second choice to Allison at Anfield in many years, although he has appeared often in domestic cup events under Jurgen Klopp. He started for Liverpool against Chelsea in the EL Cup final on Sunday, claiming his sixth major trophy for the club.

Meanwhile, Klopp praised Kelleher during the weekend, adding, “Caoimh was unbelievable. What a mature performance. I often remark that we have the finest goalkeeper in the world and the best number two in the world. I’m quite delighted for him. “Top game.”

As a result, knowing that Kelleher may potentially be persuaded to join Celtic boost for the Hoops, and a deal could be one to watch over the coming months.
