According to Football Insider, Celtic will have to pay a high amount to sign Norwich City loanee Adam Idah on a permanent contract.

The 23-year-old Republic of Ireland international has impressed club officials after joining on loan earlier this month.

Idah has four goals in four Scottish Premiership games, including a brace that sealed Celtic’s comeback victory over Motherwell on Sunday (25 February).

His loan deal goes until the conclusion of the 2023-24 season in May, but fans and experts alike are speculating that the forward could join the Hoops permanently.

On Tuesday (27 February), Football Insider reported that Idah may be open to signing full-time with Celtic in the offseason.

The prospect of playing in the Champions League is thought to be a major appeal for the 20-cap Republic of Ireland international.

However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that parent club Norwich would demand a large fee to trade with Idah, who has been at Carrow Road since 2017.

He signed a new contract with the Championship team last year (2023), which runs until June 2028.

The forward had seven goals in 34 games in the first half of the season, but was not a regular starter for David Wagner’s team.

Idah is one of Brendan Rodgers’ strongest weapons as his Celtic side looks to regain control of the Scottish Premiership title by defeating Rangers.

The Hoops are two points behind their arch rivals with two Old Firm games remaining in the 2023-24 season.
