After Ibrox leaves, a forgotten Celtic attacker will make his debut for Rangers, becoming his 16th club in career.

After a disastrous six months at Rangers, Jose Cifuentes is hoping to start fresh in Brazil by making his much anticipated debut for new club Cruzeiro.

Last summer, the Ecuadorian midfielder moved from LAFC to Ibrox, much to the delight of the supporters.

But in his 20 appearances across all competitions, the former MLS star was unable to leave a lasting impact, and after Philippe Clement took Michael Beale’s position in mid-October, he started to play less and less.

Cifuentes is aiming to restart his career by going on loan to the Cruzeiro squad, owned by the legendary Brazilian player Ronaldo.

The 24-year-old may decide to make the move permanent at the conclusion of the 12-month contract; however, the precise transfer fee has not been made public.

Despite having completed his move to Brazil in early February, Cifuentes and fellow newcomer Lucas Villalba have had to wait for their debuts because of formalities.

This in turn sparked conjecture as to whether the transfer would fail completely.

The Herald has recently disclosed that Cifuentes is scheduled to make his debut this Sunday against Pouso Alegre, so there does seem to be hope in that area.
