RODGERS’ PLEDGE TO ABADA

Despite the fact that LIEL ABADA might not play a single game for Celtic this year, Brendan Rodgers says the team “will look after

him well” despite the upsetting unrest that is occurring off the field.

The Israeli winger will not be present at Parkhead tonight’s encounter against Dundee. The international star has missed the last three

games against St Mirren, Kilmarnock, and Motherwell due to injury.

Given the political position of some members of the Hoops fan base and the turmoil his country is experiencing with Palestine,

Rodgers has declined to put any additional pressure on the 22-year-old player.

The Irishman acknowledged that Abada lacks mental acuity, and the Celtic manager maintained that he was unaware of the

concerning Israeli allegations regarding the person being mistreated in Glasgow’s streets.

In an interview with the Daily Record, Rodgers stated, “I’m not aware of that. Liel and I talk all the time. Unfortunately, he’s not in the

correct mental state to play because of this circumstance. However, that varies from day to day.

“He’s not able to make it to the games, but he’s still training with the group.”

“We’ll take good care of him and treat him well while he’s here.”

Abada’s departure from the team has been widely documented, and according to CQN yesterday, there have been new rumors linking

him to three Major League Soccer teams, including Atlanta United, which is led by Giorgos Giakoumakis.

The scoring flanker, who cost the club £3.5 million when he was first acquired by Ange Postecoglou from Maccabi Petah Tikva in July

2021, is still unknown as to what his future holds.

One thing that appears to be certain is that Abada will not be seen while Israel and Palestine are engaged in combat.
