IS CELTIC FOOTBALL CLUB FOR SALE? THE ANSWER MIGHT SURPRISE YOU…

I’ve been away for a few days owing to surgery, which I’d been putting off.

It’s done now, but when I was in the hospital, I had plenty of time to think on Celtic’s current position.

After listening to podcasts and reading extensively, I came up with an idea.

It isn’t as strange as you may think, and the more I thought about it, the more sense it made to me.

For a long time, it’s been evident that Celtic lacks strategy and forward planning.

The only distinct strategy at Celtic appears to be keeping the Ibrox Club at Bay.
Even that tactic appears to be problematic, given our present league position.

There is no strategy for Europe.

There hasn’t been in quite some time.

If we had been able to keep Ange Postecoglou’s services, perhaps we could have demonstrated some European ambition.

But we didn’t, and it appears that Brendan Rodgers was once again misled about our European objectives.

At the moment, it’s evident that the fans want answers.

It is evident that we want to know what, if any, intentions the club has for the future.

But what if the club does not have a strategy for the future?

Now, there could be two explanations for this, both of which make sense, but I’ll go into the second one in greater detail.

The first argument, and perhaps the one that most fans can relate with, is that the existing board has simply hit its limit.

They have exhausted their options.

Or, more specifically, they are unable of taking the club any further.

They are not true footballers in that sense; they are bean counters, solicitors, tories, you name it.

That’s probably the main reason they’re so alienated from their fan base.

In a recent article, I mentioned their age.

Almost all are of pensionable age.

They’re out of ideas and trapped in a “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mindset.

However, that thinking is out of date and no longer useful.

It just does not work.

That is why the team is in its current dilemma.

When Ange Postecoglou left and Peter Lawwell returned to the building, they simply resumed typing.

They simply did not have any other ideas.

ANGE POSTECOGLOU WAS THE EXCEPTION TO THE RULE, AND WHEN HE LEFT, THE RULE RETURNED TO ITS OLD FORM.
Because the old farts in the boardroom are incapable of creative, forward-thinking ideas, they determined that this was once again the way forward.

Except that it has done nothing but move us backward.

And it will continue to do so unless there is a fundamental shift.

It just does not work, and these old farts are either too stubborn to accept this truth, or there is another explanation for their current attitude.

This takes me to argument #2 as to why the club currently has no other plans.

The fact is that they do have a plan.

Are you confused yet?

Well, let me simplify things for you.

Their plan does not revolve around moving the club ahead.

Any relevant way.

It concentrates around transforming Celtic Football Club into a large, juicy, attractive asset.

In other words, the cow is being fattened for sale.

Think about it.

There’s a reason why we have a pile of capital sitting in the bank account.
If we were broke, would we be an appealing proposal to a potential buyer?
