Injury Updates : 3 Key players set to return before expected time as Rangers seek to maintain lead

The latest Rangers injury news and probable return dates as Philippe Clement’s side prepares to face Kilmarnock at Rugby Park tonight.

Rangers continue their Scottish Premiership title chase this evening, and it will be a difficult one.

Kilmarnock is the hosts in Ayrshire, and Gers have had a difficult time there in recent years.

Since returning to the top tier in 2016, the club has only beaten Killie four times in the last twelve encounters at Rugby Park [Fitbastats].

Derek McInnes is an excellent manager who knows just how to put his team up.

Rangers face a potential banana skin, but Philippe Clement and his in-form players remain hopeful of a favorable outcome.

Here is the most recent Rangers injury update, with Clement glad to inform that there are no new absences after Saturday’s emphatic victory against Hearts.

Rangers Injury News vs Kilmarnock

Rangers’ treatment room is currently less busy than it was earlier this season.

Five players are definitely out for the Kilmarnock game, but the most of these people are long-term issues.

Ryan Jack does not appear on the list below since he is not injured.

However, Clement may yet be left out of the matchday squad as he continues to rehabilitate.

Rabbi Matondo’s most recent injuries

Rabbi Matondo is now sidelined owing to a minor muscular issue.

The problem was discovered during the win against Ross County at Ibrox on February 14, and the winger has not been seen since.

Clement has not provided an update on Matondo since then, therefore the Welshman is very likely to sit the Kilmarnock game out.

Rangers winger Abdallah Sima was in top form before suffering a devastating thigh injury in the 2023 AFCON against Senegal.

and little has been said about his recovery since.

However, Clement stated at the end of January that Sima underwent thigh surgery and will miss “two to three months” of action.

Danilo’s newest injury.

Expected return date: early April.

Kieran Dowell’s injury update

Kieran Dowell has proven to be a competent performer for Rangers, but the midfielder has struggled to stay fit this season.

The former Norwich City player last appeared for Gers against Kilmarnock on January 2 and has not been seen since.

That’s because he sustained an injury when practicing with Rangers at La Manga during the midseason winter break.

He was ruled out for two months and is now recovering from a successful surgery.

Expected return date: late March

Alex Lowry’s newest injury.

Alex Lowry returned to Rangers after a loan spell at Hearts during the January transfer window.

Unfortunately, he returned to the Rangers Training Centre with a suspected back injury.

The 20-year-old playmaker was out for “six to eight weeks” at the end of January,

so it may not be long before Lowry is back in contention for selection.
