The Celtics manager, Brendan Rodgers, has defended himself against accusations of misogyny. “Find something that is offensive” is

the current quest in society, he claimed. This comes after he referred to BBC Sport reporter Jane Lewis as a “good girl” to wrap up

their conversation.

Lewis had pressed him for more details following Celtic’s thrilling victory against Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership. Later on, the

journalist came clean and stated she didn’t think Rodgers meant to offend her. Women’s organizations, however, have publicly

criticized the actions of the Northern Irish coach.

Regarding Rodgers, the Scottish Feminist Network jokingly said that they “thought dinosaurs were extinct”. For Women Scotland,

however, called him out for “casual sexism” and insisted that he apologize.

Rodgers is displeased with how large of a problem this has grown. He said, “I’ve talked to Jane.” “She didn’t take offense. We laughed

about it, and I’m sure she’ll keep asking me strange questions. However, I get to see her once a week and we get along well, just like I

do with the most of the people in my life, socially and professionally.

Lewis said, “But you’re the one that’s bringing that up, so can you not give us some more on it?”

in response to Rodgers’ strong “No, no, no” cut in.

Rodgers concluded the conversation by saying, “Okay? Completed. Well done, girl. Excellent work.”

“That the go-to attitude of a manager of a winning team was condescension is quite illuminating but really very depressing in 2024,”

the Scottish Feminist Network observed.
