Former WWE star Tyler Breeze opens out on the early days of NXT.
Former WWE talent Mattias Clement (aka Tyler Breeze) spoke on the podcast “Developmentally Speaking” about his early days on the “NXT” squad.
Clement signed with WWE in 2010 and joined the company’s developmental brand, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW),
where he gained experience on television before moving on to “NXT” like many of his peers.
“We did a test program to see how the Full Sail [University] worked as part of our weekly tapings.
“Ok, this is a little more production, it’s a little bigger, and it appears to be more than our FCW’s usual TV taping on
local cable television.”
Clement also mentioned that WWE execs were present in greater numbers at that time.
“Seeing the people that you hear that you work for but you don’t really see all the time,
so like all of a sudden Triple H is around all the time and you could really see him grab the reigns of it and go.”
The erstwhile “Prince Pretty” has great memories of “NXT,” noting that the early days retain a special place in his heart.
Furthermore, he believes that the current age of the black-and-gold brand is on par with everything WWE has ever developed.
“Sometimes people talk about the Attitude Era, and they talk about having such a broad group of people in an era where you might get a Bruno Sammartino, but you don’t get four Bruno Sammartinos.
” He went on to praise his fellow roster members for their dedication to enhancing their abilities.
“We had a lot of hungry men and women. Everyone wanted to learn; everyone was a student of the game, and once
they realized what was going on, they wanted to be a part of it.”
