Brendan Rodgers has called £15m player ‘world class’ before, he could be Celtic’s ideal signing on a free

Quality. That’s the word that was overused by Brendan Rodgers as the Celtic boss looked forward to the January transfer window.

When I say overused, I mean that the Celtic manager should have kept that opinion to himself rather than making it public that he believes the players he now has are not good enough.

Because that is basically what he did. Anyway, that’s a story for another day.Leicester City v Everton FC - Premier League

There is a player nearing the end of his contract at Leicester City who Rodgers once described as ‘world-class’ and may be an excellent summer addition.

And, at just 27 years old, he is reaching his peak and might have a high sell-on value.

Wilfred Ndidi would be an excellent addition for Celtic.
The Nigerian international had previously been linked with Celtic.

Rodgers was believed to be planning to bring his former midfield lieutenant to Glasgow having working closely with him at Leicester.

Indeed, Ndidi was a member of the Leicester squad that won the FA Cup and the Community Shield during Rodgers’ stay at the Premier League club, but he now plays in England’s second tier.

With 344 professional games and 53 caps for Nigeria,

Ndidi possesses the skill and experience that Rodgers is looking for.

The Leicester midfielder’s contract expires at the end of June, and Celtic should at least inquire about it.

Ndidi’s current weekly pay is £51k [SalarySport], which might be a stumbling barrier,

but obtaining a proven international who was previously worth £15 million for free,

surely the Parkhead board could push the boat out to sign the Nigerian.

Working under Rodgers and the prospect of playing Champions League football again may persuade Ndidi to drop his wage demands and resume playing at the highest level.
