BREAKING NEWS NOW : Celtic Manager under Fire for Comment to BBC Journalist

Following Celtic’s recent 3-1 victory against Motherwell, manager Brendan Rodgers of Celtic FC caused a stir with his condescending

comments to BBC sports reporter Jane Lewis in a post-match interview.

When Ms. Lewis questioned the manager of Carnlough in County Antrim regarding the Premiership title contest, Rodgers evaded her

inquiry by saying:

“The narrative regarding this group has already been published. However, we’ll pen our own tale.

Lewis pressed for further information after Rodgers’ circumspect answer, but Rodgers shot back, dismissively closing the exchange

with, “No, no, you know exactly what I mean,” before turning to leave and saying, “done, good girl, well done.”

There has been awareness of these mocking remarks. Organizations including For Women Scotland and the Scottish Feminist

Network have called for Rodgers to provide a prompt apology for his “demeaning” remarks.

Both BBC Scotland and Celtic Club have declined to comment on the current drama; nonetheless, there are rumors that Celtic has

made contact with Ms. Lewis and has not taken offense.

A campaign group called For Women Scotland cited Rodgers’ statement as evidence that “casual sexism is still embedded in sport.”

“Women’s achievements are underrated and dismissed, and their professional status is undermined,” a spokeswoman said. The

reporter deserves an apology from Rodgers.

The Scottish Feminist Network agreed, claiming that Jane Lewis was “just doing her job” and attempting to elicit a clear response

from Rodgers over a very vague remark.

Speaking on BBC Radio Scotland’s Drivetime program, sports journalist Heather Dewar criticized Rodgers for his inappropriate and

condescending remark rather than attributing it to sexism.

“I felt that was a poorly chosen remark that was really condescending. “Good girl”—I’m not sure if he was making a joke or not.
