Breaking News : England Striker Agreed To Join Rangers

Andy Halliday has told Rangers to ditch their player-trading model to sign up John Lundstram on a new contract.

The midfielder is free to talk to other clubs with his current Ibrox deal set to expire in the summer but the former Sheffield United star

has been a key part of the upturn in form under Philippe Clement and has been vital in steering the club to the summit of the Scottish

Premiership. Clement has previously expressed he is keen to see the Englishman remain in Govan beyond the end of his current

contract

However, Halliday reckons the club will see no resale value should they agree an extension to Lundstram’s deal after he turned 30

earlier this year. Clement and the Rangers powerbrokers have touted the player-trading model that they are keen to see a return on

going forward – but former Ibrox midfielder Halliday has urged the club to go against the grain to keep their star man.

“I’m only speculating, but I would think he would be in the top five highest earners within the club. Philippe Clement and Rangers are

talking about these saleable assets within the club, and I think John Lundstram is probably in that bracket where he is no longer going

to be a saleable asset.

“If he signs a 2-3 year contract at Rangers then he is bridging into 32-33 and will be past the years where they are going to sell him for

millions of pounds. I think one thing must be said, he has shown this year that he is more than deserving of a new contract.”
