Dujon Sterling has talked about the meeting he had with Rangers manager Philippe Clement that ultimately saved his career.

The adaptable player had spent most of his time on the sidelines under Michael Beale before to the Englishman’s dismissal and the

appointment of the former Monaco and Club Brugge manager. The 24-year-old seemed to catch Clement’s eye right away, and Sterling

can still remember what the Belgian told him to give him more confidence, since he went on to play under Clement 15 times in a matter of months as opposed to only seven.

Throughout his career, injuries and illnesses have held Sterling back, and earlier this term, another problem surfaced.

The defensive star also recounts how even physicians were unable to diagnose it, even though it is now completely resolved.

I saw a few black lines in my eyes when I woke up one day at the beginning of November. I believe they refer to them as floaters. That

was mine, and for a few weeks afterward, I was still having problems with it. I couldn’t really see much on my right side since it was

fuzzy at the top of my eye. I wanted to play, I told the gaffer. But let’s imagine, for instance, that the score was 0-0 and a ball crosses

the line in the final minute.

“I didn’t want to play when I knew I wasn’t 100 percent correct because I didn’t want to impact the team. He assured me that it would

be alright and that they would assist me no matter how long I needed to resolve the issue.

“I visited with a few experts. They offered assistance, but the problem resolved itself. I believe it completely vanished just following the

Viaplay Cup Final. I still had a little amount of it in the upper corner even in the cup final. But it’s entirely gone now.

What could physicians provide him with? Basically nothing. They were unable to say. I’m not sure even now. I have a follow-up

appointment in a few weeks. All it takes is time. Nothing was present.
