Janice McNair, the owner of the Texans, has had her son withdraw her guardianship application.

In November of last year, Robert Cary McNair Jr. submitted an application for guardianship of his mother,

claiming that a stroke had reduced her mental competence. A few weeks ago,

a Houston judge turned down McNair’s plea to have his mother examined by a separate doctor,

and now the case has been withdrawn.

Cal McNair, the CEO of the Texans, joined his mother in opposing the exam and the guardianship application.

Paul Dobrowski, Cal McNair’s attorney, stated in a statement that his client is

“delighted that the frivolous lawsuit against his mother, Janice McNair, was dismissed today,” as reported by the Houston Chronicle.

“He feels happy that she won’t have to endure an unwarranted medical examination or

be subjected to an oppressive guardianship that would limit her freedom.

As the Houston Texans‘ founder and senior chair, she will keep up her active involvement.

After her late husband Bob McNair passed away in 2018,

Janice McNair took over as the team’s primary owner. The two co-founded the Texans.
