The former Sheffield United midfielder is in the final six months of his contract at Ibrox and is therefore technically free to negotiate terms elsewhere.
However, as John Lundstram’s previous performances in a Rangers shirt have shown, the possibility of him signing elsewhere was never considered.
According to the latest reports, Rangers are determined to sign John Lundstram to a new contract, with an announcement due in the “coming weeks”.
John Lundstram is set to sign a new deal
At least this is according to veteran Scottish football journalist Chris Jack, who made the assertion when writing for the Rangers Review after Hearts’ 5-0 demolition.
According to Sofascore, the seasoned midfielder completed 76 of his 85 passes, resulting in an 89% success rate, with four of those passes being critical, more than any other player on the pitch.
Lundstram also led the way with 101 touches, making two clearances, one interception, and one tackle during his hugely influential performance.
Worryingly, the midfielder’s contract at Ibrox will expire at the end of this season, and the club cannot afford to lose him considering his current performances.
Rangers managers must offer John Lundstram a new contract at Ibrox.
That should push the powers that be in Glasgow to take prompt action, with a new contract going Lundstram’s way as soon as possible.
Rangers fans will still be enraged that they lost Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos for free last summer when their contracts expired, a situation that must be avoided with Lundstram this time.
