Journalist: Celtic star could leave hoops in ‘Big Money’ PL move

Gustaf Lagerbielke arrived in the summer, with the expectation that he’d play back-up fellow summer signing Maik Nawrocki and defensive stalwart Cameron Carter-Vickers, but it’s not quite transpired like that.

Lagerbielke and Nawrock have made a total of 18 appearances this season. Their lack of continuous game time,

while apparently being fit, has perplexed fans and commentators alike,

with the £8 million investments sitting on the bench or failing to make matchday squads.

The loss to Cameron Carter-Vickers has complicated matters further,

forcing Rodgers to rely on Stephen Welsh and Liam Scales to form a defensive partnership.

Andy Halliday, commenting on Monday night’s Clyde 1 Superscoreboard,

expressed surprise that Gustaf Lagerbielke was not given a chance.

He said:”Looking at Lagerbielke, I believe he hasn’t got enough opportunities to demonstrate that he is a good recruit.

“We’ve seen a lot of him; I believe there have been games where he came in and performed well.

But it appears that he has been absolutely absent for the past few months.”

Gustaf Lagerbielke has scarcely missed a beat at Celtic,

and he even scored the winning goal in Celtic’s Champions League encounter against Feyenoord,

giving them their first home win in the competition in over a decade.
