DJ Moore is eager to work with the college position coach again.

Bears receiver DJ Moore looks set for a second straight big season if it’s true that familiarity breeds success.

Moore will return with his college position coach in 2024 after setting career

highs in all receiving categories in his debut season with the Bears in 2023.

Moore and new Bears receivers coach Chris Beatty attended Maryland together in 2016–17.

Moore set a school record by collecting 80 passes for 1,033 yards and eight touchdowns in 2017,

earning him the titles of Big Ten Receiver of the Year and first-team All-Big Ten.

Moore told ChicagoBears.com, “He pushed me to be the best I could be in college,

so I’m looking forward to seeing that happen in the NFL with everyone in the room.

I’m sure he’ll provide us with exercises and other materials to improve our games.”

According to Moore, Beatty helped him grasp the significance of “being on top of my route,

the details of the route, how you get from Point A to Point B as fast as possible,” as well as route principles.

Beatty doesn’t have a coaching approach that works for everyone, according to Moore,

who also stated that “he’s going to have a different way of coaching everybody and getting the best out of them.”

Moore was acquired by the Bears from the Panthers in a sensational trade last season.

He reached career highs last year, catching 96 passes for 1,364 yards and eight touchdowns,

after earning at least 1,100 yards receiving in three of his five seasons in Carolina.

Beatty has 26 years of high school, collegiate, and NFL coaching experience.

Following his tenure as head coach of three different Virginia high schools from 1998 to 2005,

he worked as a college assistant for the next fifteen seasons,

mostly as a receivers coach, at Hampton (2006), Northern Illinois (2007), West Virginia (2008–10), Vanderbilt (2011),

Illinois (2012), Wisconsin (2013–14), Virginia (2015), Maryland (2016–18), and Pittsburgh (2019–20).

Beatty worked with receivers Mike Williams and Keenan Allen during his three seasons as

the Chargers receivers coach in the National Football League.

Williams caught 76 catches in 2021, good for 1,146 yards and nine touchdowns.

After collecting a career-high 108 catches for 1,243 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023, Allen was selected for his sixth Pro Bowl.

“He’s a terrific coach and he’s going to get the receiver room right,” Moore stated.

“As you saw with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, they both had tremendous years under him.”
