The OH crash occurred shortly after takeoff near the James A Rhodes Airport, officials say

The victims of a plane crash in southeast Ohio have been identified as a father, his son, and a family friend.

The pilot, Daniel Baker, 44,  Zebulon Logan, 45,

on their trip to Florida to pick up a newly purchased vehicle. The crash occurred shortly after takeoff,

approximately a quarter-mile north of the James A.Ohio Crime

Rhodes Airport.The three people killed in a small plane crash in southeast Ohio were a father,

his son, and a family friend on their way to Florida to pick up a newly purchased vehicle over the weekend,

according to authorities. The pilot, 44-year-old Daniel Baker of Jackson,

and his father were on their way to Florida with 45-year-old Zebulon Logan of Lucasville to pick up a vehicle Logan had purchased.

Officials reported that a car belonging to the pilot, Daniel Baker, was discovered parked at the airport.

The sheriff’s office described his father as Robert Daniel Baker, 78, of Lucasville,

but the Ohio State Highway Patrol identified him as Dan Baker, 75, of West Portsmouth.

A plane crash at an airport in southeastern Ohio killed three people.

The Piper PA 32 Cherokee Six was noticed blazing just off the route about 12:30 p.m.,

and the Jackson Fire Department tried to extinguish the flames while emergency medical

responders checked for occupants and found the three victims dead,

the sheriff’s department stated.

The Jackson County coroner sent the remains of the victims to the Montgomery County coroner’s office for autopsies,

and the state highway patrol will join the Federal Aviation Administration and National

Transportation Safety Board in investigating the cause of the crash,

the sheriff’s office said.

The James A. Rhodes Airport is located around 65 miles south-southeast of Columbus.
