Dan Plumley has stated that Rangers have made another “big play” with other Scottish Premiership clubs in response to concerns expressed about the SPFL.

Paperwork surfaced in February after the Bears were one of six teams to write to the SPFL, expressing concerns about the Governance report’s independence.

The football finance specialist confirmed that there has been friction between clubs and league organisers, which is also happening in English football.

“We’ve gone from talking about the finances of football over the last 15 years and now those conversations are bleeding into governance angles,” he told Ibrox News in an exclusive interview.

“There are numerous discussions about regulatory frameworks in English football, including Financial Fair Play, Profit, and Sustainability, and these discussions frequently return to governance.

“We’ve certainly seen the same thing in Scottish football with the way the league functions and the tension that has produced between clubs, which is understandable,

but you’ve had an antagonist in a tremendously big team in Rangers who has been pushing the edge.”These power plays between clubs and league organisers are nothing new,

but they are intensifying at the moment, particularly in English football and the English football regulator and there has been speculation about what this may mean for Scotland in the future.”

“There will be discussions about the future of Scottish football; we know that TV deals have been undersold,and there will be discussions in which governance must be considered.

“It’s a big play by Rangers, but we’re used to them making big plays, so I guess it’s no surprise to see it.”

Rangers’ SPFL power play

Rangers and those who claim to be in control have a long history of conflict.The Bears have repeatedly questioned the SPFL and the SFA, and rightfully so;

just look at the Willie Collum controversy earlier this season.Hopefully, change can be done, and Scottish football can regain its pride.
