Despite rumblings of possible retirement during the final stretch of the 2023 regular season and playoffs, it does not sound like Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is ready to call it quits. In fact, he could be signing an extension in the coming weeks, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Pelissero also stated that the negotiations would include an extension for general manager Brett Veach. Following the Chiefs’ first Super Bowl victory of the season in 2019, Andy Reid, 65, and Veach, 46, inked contracts that would keep them as Kansas City’s head coach and general manager through the 2025 NFL season.

According to Pelissero’s notes for NFL.com, Reid is believed to be among the top ten highest-paid coaches, while Veach is now considered one of the lowest-paid general managers. After winning three titles in five years, both should be eligible for a big salary increase.

Reid joined Kansas City in 2013 after 14 years as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. He is fourth all-time in NFL career wins and first among all active head coaches. Veach, who is credited with discovering quarterback Patrick Mahomes, was appointed to the team’s general manager position shortly after the 2017 NFL draft.
