Rangers star set to miss next Five matches in huge blow – Ibrox sources
As to Football Insider’s sources, Rangers anticipate that Todd Cantwell will be sidelined for a minimum of three weeks due to injury.
In the 60th minute of the Gers’ 3-0 victory over St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park on Sunday,
February 18, the midfield player was substituted off the field and was observed receiving ice treatment.
Philippe Clement will be without the 25-year-old due to an injury
to his hamstring, meaning he will miss key fixtures for the club.
Cantwell had already missed four league games and two Europa League group-stage clashes
between September and October with a knee injury.
Rangers star Todd Cantwell expected to miss both Benfica matches
He now appears destined to miss both legs of their Europa League last-16 matchup with Benfica in addition to important league matches against Kilmarnock, Motherwell, and Hibernian.
Additionally, he won’t be able to play in the Dundee match before the international break.
The former Norwich City ace has made 33 appearances for Rangers this season and has scored six goals and provided four assists.
After a slow start to the season, Cantwell has bagged five of his goals in his last nine outings for the Gers and has been instrumental for
the club surpassing arch-rivals Celtic at the summit of the table.
In the treatment room, he joins people like Abdallah Sima, Rabbi Matondo, and Danilo,
but Clement is buoyed by striker Kemar Roofe’s comeback.
After defeating Hearts, who are currently in third position, 5-0 on Saturday afternoon (February 24),
Rangers are still at the top of the table.
The next game they play is on Wednesday night (February 28) against Kilmarnock.
A first-team player “will leave Rangers” following a recent update, according to sources.
