Rangers  planning next season around five key players, including Oscar cortes

Philippe Clement has ridiculed “silly stories” surrounding Rangers captain James Tavernier and a trip to Five Guys following the stunning victory over Hearts.

The Belgian manager spoke after Rangers defeated the Jambos 5-0 at Ibrox to go five points clear in the Scottish Premiership title chase.

Rangers captain James Tavernier once again played an important part in the game,

with goals from Mohamed Diomande, Oscar Cortes, Cyriel Dessers twice, and Fabio Silva sending a strong title message.

However, it was Philippe Clement’s comments about the Ibrox skipper’s return to full-time football that turned a few heads,

leaving one commentator feeling embarrassed.Rangers FC v Heart of Midlothian - Cinch Scottish Premiership

Philippe Clement comments on James Tavernier’s Five Guys assertions
Following Rangers’ 3-0 win over St Johnstone last weekend,

controversial pundit Gordon Parks took a cheap swipe at skipper James Tavernier.

Specifically, the Daily Record writer stated that Tav’s “gravitas” was unsuitable for a Rangers captain,

citing a post-match contact with the Ibrox skipper at burger restaurant Five Guys as an example.

When asked about the rumors after the game, Philippe Clement strongly dismissed them as “silly stories,”

noting that James Tavernier was with the team.”If I read that a player is present one hour after the final whistle,

you know better because the player was with us in the stadium.”

“All of these silly stories, I don’t pay any attention to them.”

There is only one way for the Rangers skipper to silence naysayers.
Rangers fans are accustomed to receiving harsh coverage anytime the club performs well,

and we’re confident James Tavernier was unconcerned.

The attack on the Gers captain’s personality detracts from Rangers’ progress on the pitch,

and we’re sure no one at Ibrox will have lost a wink over it.

According to Philippe Clement, the charges are an example of manufactured outrage,

and League Cup-winning Rangers captain James Tavernier will go about his business this season.

There is still a long way to go before the end of the season,

and the Ibrox captain will be focused on celebrating a treble come May.

If James Tavernier pulls it off, we doubt even Gordon Parks will begrudge him a celebratory Five Guys this summer!
