Speaking to the media on Friday [via Football Scotland], the Rangers boss said that Todd Cantwell will be sidelined for approximately three weeks due to injury. That puts us around March 15th.

Given how important a player Cantwell has been for Rangers this season, there is little doubt that this is a major setback for the team.

Despite this, the Englishman has so far in 2023–24 produced five goals and three assists to the Scottish Premiership. His off-field work ethic is equally as outstanding as his on-field prowess.

Cantwell’s skill as a player from his early years was reportedly praised by former youth team coach Gary Cockaday, who said, “At one point, two of them had Todd up against the line and you could see them thinking, ‘Gotcha!'” After giving one of them a direct glance, Todd dipped his toe under the ball, flipped it back over his head, turned, and disappeared.

“Without glancing at the ball at all. He performed weekly acts of pure genius. It came from God. Nobody imparted knowledge on it. I’ve always had the opinion that if you have someone like that, don’t try to mold or modify them.”

Rangers will hopefully be able to substitute for Cantwell’s absence with his all-around brilliance as a football player, winning games in the championship fight and advancing past Benfica in the Europa League.
Cantwell will be difficult to replace, though.
These kinds of defeats, however, will test Clement’s depth within the squad at such a crucial point in the campaign. They have to step up to the plate if they hope to defeat Celtic and take home the title.
