Rangers  have agreed terms to sign £12k per week

Rangers veteran goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin is poised to leave Ibrox for free in May, according to Football Insider sources.

The Gers ace, 36, will be out of contract later this year, and talks about a renewal have yet to take place.

It is believed that the Rangers board is willing to let McLaughlin leave since he is surplus to requirements.
A reliable source has told Football Insider that the giants believe it is unnecessary to keep him as 2023 signing Jack Butland is doing admirably as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper.

McLaughlin has not played a single minute for Rangers in the 2023-24 season and is yet to be named to a matchday team.

His playing time has been limited as Robby McCrorie has been promoted to second-choice shot stopper.

Last season, McLaughlin made 16 appearances in all competitions, surrendering 18 goals and maintaining eight clean sheets.

The veteran even played for Rangers in the Champions League,

helping them advance to the group stage.Butland was bought on a free transfer in last year’s summer window when Allan McGregor retired.

McLaughlin joined Sunderland for free in 2020 and has made 46 appearances for the club.

He signed his final contract extension in January 2022,

although he will not be granted a new contract at Ibrox. Rangers,

aided by star player Butland, are solidly in the title battle with Glasgow rivals Celtic this season.

With 13 league games left in the 2023-24 season, the Ibrox club trails only the Hoops in terms of goals scored.

In other news, Rangers are looking to sign a Championship striker after an offer was lodged.
