Even though Everton had a difficult few months due to off-field problems that cost them 10 points, manager Sean Dyche has shown

promise this year and with 13 games left, the Toffees can still win the Premier League.

The financial problems behind the scenes at Goodison Park have prevented Dyche from bringing in any new signings, with the former

Burnley boss only able to work on a shoestring budget.

Jarrad Branthwaite and James Garner, two younger players on the first team, have established themselves as starters for Everton

thanks to the Englishman’s repeated faith in them.

This season, though, the manager has been let down by a few of his more experienced first-team players; one in particular is having

difficulty keeping up with the demands of the Premier League.

Burnley’s Michael Keane, a defender, cost Everton an incredible £30 million in the summer of 2017. Keane was a standout player for

the Clarets that season, helping them to victory by six points.

In his debut season at Goodison, Keane made an impression, starting thirty games and leading the Toffees to an eighth-place Premier

League finish, five points ahead of his old team Burnley, who qualified for the Europa League.

The defender remained a crucial part of the Toffees’ backline for the 2018/2019 campaign, with Keane making 33 appearances in the

top flight and looking good value for his hefty price tag.

Until the 2022–2023 season, he would continue to start as a center back, even though the defender was beginning to make blunders.

Keane’s playing time decreased as a result of his errors and the addition of James Tarkowski,

since he only made 12 appearances in the Premier League the previous season.

At thirty-one, Keane is currently Everton’s third-choice center defender, behind Tarkowski and the young player

Branthwaite, who has drawn attention from several Premier League teams for £50 million.
